Well today,1/16/11, was our first meeting of the New Year. Yes it was long, but we had a lot to talk about. Once we get through all the changes, I promise to keep the meetings short.
Now it’s time to tell you all a little about me. Ever since I can remember, I always wanted to ride. I grew up in Brooklyn, and did not have a place to store a bike, so I just pushed the thought aside. When I finally moved to New Jersey, I had my son to think about.
So when he was grown, and I was in my forties, I decided to go for it. I started out with a 250 Honda Rebel. Two years later I moved to a Kawasaki 750 Vulcan. In 1998 I bought my first Harley, a 1200 Sportster.
When I retired from Fedex in 2004, I bought my little Mazda Miata as my retirement gift. At the end of 2004, I bought my baby, a 2005 Heritage Softail for Christmas. I knew no one else would be buying such a gift, so I said what the heck. I told the dealer I didn’t want to see it until April of 05. Four days after bringing it home, I shattered the bones in two of fingers on my right hand. I was devastated.
Now a little about my time at Fedex. I was hired in 1987 as a part time flight crew van driver. I drove the flight crews between the hotel and airport. On one trip I met a manager from Memphis, who was in Newark to start up a new department. He asked me to send him my resume, and that changed the course of my life. I was with Fedex for 17 years.
