In the Saddle Again...
It’s been a long time since I’ve held any type of position or office within the club. I think I’ve held every office available since the club’s inception. The last office held was that of President for four years. Our outgoing president, Alex Pesacreta held that office for two years. I’m going out on a limb to say that any one who held that office for more than one year consecutively did so because we must have been doing an okay job. Quite an accomplishment and a ton of hard work, I enjoyed it when I held the position of President and I’m sure Alex and the others did as well.
So, I’m back in the saddle again as Vice President this time. This is another position I had held many moons ago as Anne Marie Newman can attest. See, she was President at one point and I was her trusty side kick. Just call me Tonto…. I trust this time around, with Pat Gwozdz at the helm, this ship will also run smooth. Pat has been around for many years and will make a good leader. I’m sure the board will make its mark this year with many great times to be had by all. Pat is a lot of fun and a good soul.
My days of heckling the board at the meetings have come to a halt and now I am in the heckle-ee position and welcome it gladly. I’ve been really busy these past many years and not been around much. The meetings are strange for me and I see many new faces light up the room each month. I hope I can make them comfortable enough to stay on as some of us have. The club is a great one.
I’ve put in my time and FINALY finished my degree in Finance. It only took me 7 years but I did it and graduated this past October with a 3.59 GPA. Not bad since I barely got an A at any point in time in high school. I was just too busy doing other things which will not be mentioned here. I graduated high school in 1979…need I say more. I’m the only one of my siblings to have a college degree. I have a brother and a sister who are 13 and 14 years my senior. Now I need to concentrate on getting the big salary because I really need it now…you see my marital status has changed.
After 25 years of marriage, I am now divorced and single. It’s kind of weird since I changed my name back to my maiden name of Rich. I was a Britland longer than I was ever a Rich since I married when I was 20 years old. Talk about back in the saddle again. I never thought I would be dating and it was truly scary to think about, I didn’t do too badly though right out of the shoot. Some of you have met Bob. The rest of you will get to meet him eventually. I think he’ll be around for a long time to come. I just got lucky and didn’t have to do all the nasty dating stuff with all the creepy guys out there.
I’m excited about the coming year and along with the board of directors, we hope to plan out some really fun things. Just to let you know, there will be no whining. All whiners will be put in time out…..lol. We are going to have great times and ride all over. Those who are starting out or new to the sport will grow stronger in their skills because us ole timers will push them to their limits and they will be thankful for the support and mentoring. It’s feels good to be back in the saddle again….yippee!
