When Baldwin County Schools let in Monday, about 450 students were
all the more ready, thanks to the Secret Petals Motorcycle Club.
Georgia - The Secret Petals’ annual Summer Splash
celebrated another successful July afternoon with club members passing
out bags of school supplies to area kids for the fourth straight year.
Secret Petals MC Secretary Nakeycha “Crispy Cream” Hooks told The
Union-Recorder that the Summer Splash back-to-school event was a big success.
“There was an awesome turnout,” she said. “We gave out about
450 bags full of school supplies.”
Hooks said that over the years since the club’s first Summer Splash, the
Secret Petals have been adding to the event little by little. This year’s
event included Nintendo Wii games on a big screen provided by Aarons Rental Center,
two bounce houses, four cartoon characters, music provided by Power 107, food
and an appearance by the Milledgeville Fire Department who brought one of their
fire trucks to spray down the kids in attendance.
“We’d really like to thank our sponsors who provided their monetary
donations, time and donated school supplies,” Hooks said.
The Secret Petals raised about $1,800 to fund the school supply giveaway. And
this year, several area barbershops and beauty salons were on hand giving out
gift certificates to go toward that new back-to-school hairstyle.
“We continue to reach out for support so we can continue to make the event
bigger and better,” Hooks said.
Hooks said the Secret Petals’ next event will be raising funds for their
annual Christmas family adoption. Each year, the club selects two area families
to help out during the holidays.

or next year’s Summer Splash, write to them at P.O. Box 663 Hardwick, GA
