What a truly wonderful and magical time of the year…at least if you are just receiving gifts and not having to shop, wrap, return, park at the mall, etc…OK, I'm just poking a little fun at the madness that is the “modern” holiday season.

But on a more serious note, in the true spirit of the season, it's a time of year that we not only celebrate our blessings, but each other…a time of truly opening our hearts and giving to those in need. I am not talking only about financially giving, but emotionally, mentally and all of the ways that we can (and do) give of ourselves to one another during this, and many other times of the year.

As a group, there is so much that we've accomplished working together that shows just how much we care for others. Whether it is the obvious, such as the yearly charitable contributions we make to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and various other women's and children's charities, or the not so obvious – the way we are simply there for one another and the community around us. Each of us, in our own unique way, demonstrate our caring for one another. It is obvious how much our fellow human being means to each of us, especially in their time of need.

As I write this, it's been almost a year since y'all elected me as President of this club…and what a great year it has been. But President is simply a moniker that doesn't really reflect the true nature of what I believe is my position within the club. I am simply a caretaker…nothing more, nothing less. Think of it like the groundskeeper…I am just here to help plant the seeds that are your ideas, and grow them into a vision that makes the club a very personal experience for each of us. I am just taking my turn at cultivating an amazing idea that began with just a few women who shared a passion for riding motorcycles and helping others as we continue that tradition in the purest form possible.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for trusting in both me and the Board to continue the care and feeding of this wonderful idea that has evolved in to the Spokes-Women that we have today. I truly feel blessed to be a part of this and wanted to thank each of you for one of the biggest gifts of all that you have given me – YOU!

Much love to all of you this holiday season…
